The series tells the story of Kim Shin, an unbeatable general who was killed by a young king who was jealous of how good he was. Kim Shin was punished by God for all the people he killed while he was a general by being cursed to live forever and watch his loved ones die. He becomes a Dokkaebi after that (Goblin). Kim Shin waited for 900 years for the human bride who would free him from the curse that made him live forever.
Season 1 ended in a way that could be interpreted in different ways. After meeting and falling in love with his human bride, the ending didn’t say if Kim Shin was finally allowed to die. If the show is ever picked up for a Guardian The Lonely and Great God season 2, we can expect to see Kim Shin and his bride, Ji Eun Tak,’s love story continue.

The Grim Reaper is also attracted to Sunny, and their lives become complicated and unpredictable because of this.
