To create a new category of goods called network terminals (today called a “thin client”), Eberhard, Kevin Martin, Ed Basart, Dave Cornelius, Doug Klein, and Mike Harrigan created Network Computing Devices in 1987. It was in April of 1997 when Martin and Marc Tarpenning established NuvoMedia.

Eberhard’s interest in sports cars combined with his worries about oil imports and climate change prompted him to examine electric vehicles as a possible solution. After researching electric sports cars, he became interested in the AC Propulsion tzero and tried to buy one. He was instrumental in both the monetary and technical sides of the company’s transition to lithium-ion batteries. Soon after, Eberhard approached AC Propulsion’s founder, Alan Cocconi, with the idea of mass-producing the zero. In 2003, after Cocconi declined to lead Tesla Motors, a California-based electric vehicle manufacturer, Eberhard co-founded the firm with Marc Tarpenning and took over as CEO.

  1. We must not settle for less when considering an electric vehicle. If the right technologies are used to make them, electric vehicles can be better than the competition.
  2. Battery technology is a battery. When it comes to automobiles, lithium-ion batteries are a game-changer since they enable a practical range.
  3. Electric motors are better than internal combustion engines, so well-made electric cars can convince even the most dedicated car fanatics.
