Vigil Season 2: Release Date, Cast, Plot & All We Know!

We are overjoyed that Vigil has been renewed for a second season by the BBC. When DCI Amy Silva (Suranne Jones) went to investigate the death of a nuclear submarine crew member, she uncovered a global conspiracy that put everyone on board in danger.

The first episode drew over 10 million viewers, making it the most popular original drama since 2018’s Bodyguard.

Vigil Season 2: Release Date

The second season of Vigil is already in production, with a projected release date of late 2022 or early 2023, depending on the production timeline. We’ll keep this post up to date until we learn of an official release date.

The BBC has announced six one-hour episodes for The Second “Vigil (6×60′) season 2 is for BBC One and iPlayer, and it was created by Tom Edge and produced by World Productions (Showtrial, Line of Duty, Bodyguard). Simon Heath and Jake Lushington of World Productions, Gaynor Holmes of the BBC, and Tom Edge of World Production are executive producers.

Fans are also anxious to learn more about Kirsten Longacre (Rose Leslie), her on-land companion who has been researching a suspected whistleblower in the aftermath of a Navy cover-up operation. Many other characters on Vigil, such as Captain Neil Newsome (Paterson Joseph) and coxswain Elliot Glover, may use additional development time (Shaun Evans).

“I could not think of anything worse!” said the actor who plays Evans on Endeavour.

Vigil Season 2: Plot

He’s hinted at a change in setting, which isn’t surprising given that a sequel set aboard a submarine would be uncommon.

In an interview with Radio Times, he commented, “We’ve probably told as many stories on a submarine as we’d like to tell.” Some of the characters we’ve created as we’ve worked on the film have the vibe of people we’d like to get to know. It is up to the rest of us to decide whether we wish to participate or not.”

Recurring characters such as DCI Amy Silva Vigil may appear in the next second season as a result of his comments.

Vigil Season 2: Amy Silva will solve another case in Season 2 of Vigil

There isn’t much information on what the show may cover in a potential second season, aside from Tom Edge’s statement that it would probably not take place on a submarine. Edge.

While a new series based on the submarine itself seemed unlikely, writer Tom Edge previously suggested that he would revisit some of the characters in the future.

“”I believe we’ve told all the stories we intended to tell on a submarine,” “He made a comment about it. Some of the personalities we’ve created as we’ve gone along feel like they’d be fun to dive into. “So, if everyone else wants to do it, I’m happy to do it as well.”

Lorne MacFadyen, who played the traitor Doward in the first season, had an idea for a second series during a recent interview with BAFTA Scotland. He joked that there had been some discussion about doing a musical adaptation of the movie. “In my perspective, that would be fantastic. Do it, and I’ll sing it and perform it for you!”

In actuality, we have two options: either we follow the aftermath of Vigil’s disastrous tour and the ongoing conflict between the Navy and anti-nuclear deterrent activists, or Silva and Longacre investigate a crime unrelated to the submarine.
